RRR Oscars Campaign Budget Revealed by SS Rajamouli’s Son

SS Rajamouli’s film RRR won the Best Original award at the Oscars, but rumours surfaced that the team had spent a lot of money on the campaign.

SS Rajamouli’s son, SS Karthikeya, clarified the situation, saying that they had only spent according to the publicity budget and denied rumours that they had spent Rs 80 crores.

Karthikeya stated that the team had wanted to campaign for the Oscars as the audience had liked the film, and they had spent according to the plan.He dismissed the idea that they could buy an Oscar by giving money, stating that it was an institution with a 95-year-long history that operated according to a process.

The team had also received a lot of publicity from their fans, which helped.Karthikeya revealed that the planned budget for the campaign was Rs 5 crores, which they had tried to reduce as much as possible.

They spent Rs 3 crores in the first phase and increased the budget after the nominations to around Rs 5-6 crores.However, they ended up spending Rs 8.5 crores, as more screenings had to be done in New York and Los Angeles.

Regarding the rumours that the team had to pay over 25,000 dollars to attend the Oscars, Karthikeya explained that Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Prem Rakshit, Rahul Sipliganj, and Kala Bhairava were invited by the Oscar committee.Legendary music composer Keeravaani and consummate lyricist Chandra Bose were in the nomination.Those who were not in the nomination or called by the committee had to buy tickets.

MM Keeravaani had emailed the Oscar committee, and they had sent a link to buy the tickets.They purchased each ticket for $1500 and spent another $750 for four people to sit on the top and watch.All the transactions were official.
