One of the beautiful cities of Andhra Pradesh, Rajamahendravaram is going to have an archaeological museum soon.
Andhra Pradesh State Archaeology and Museums Department Commissioner Vani Mohan has confirmed the news on Thursday during a press meet.
The museum will showcase the city’s connection with Chalukyas and Buddhism.
During her one day visit to the city, Vani Mohan said, the government will set up a museum and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be submitted to the Central government.Accordingly, the project will begin in December and the central government will provide necessary financial assistance and support to develop the museum.
Vani said that the Andhra Pradesh State Archaeology and Museums Department has enough authentic evidence that proves the archaeological importance in Rajamahendravaram.The department will soon seek permission from the Archaeological Survey of India to carry out excavations in the sites, said the commissioner.
Reportedly, Member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Transport, Tourism and Culture, M.Bharat has also promised to provide a 40,000 square foot site for the proposed three-storey museum.
Bharat said Rajamahendravaram deserves to be a heritage city given the importance of the heritage sites it contains.
