Police raids in Osmania University – Professor Arrest?

To crackdown all Maoist activities, and links between the extremist group and the intellectuals, the Telangana police are taking strict measures.

In the latest development, the police raids in Osmania University have once again tensed up the situations.

Police already arrested few professors, claiming they alleged links with the Maoist groups.The latest police raids in Osmania University are targeted at Virasam Secretary and OU Professor Kasim.

The Intelligence Department officials have surrounded Professor Kasim’s quarters and conducted searches.According to sources, it is learned that Kasim’s name came into the picture during an investigation over a car accident.

‘A car accident took place in Gajwel, and few revolutionary books were found.During our investigation, Professor Kasim’s name has popped up.According to some of our sources, the professor is having deep contacts with the Maoist groups and is also helping them.We think we will find more as the investigation proceeds’, said a police officer under anonymity .
