New Delhi, Aug 7 : Prime Minister Narendra Modi is in charge of the seventh Niti Aayog meeting of the governing council which is currently in progress in the Rashtrapati Bhawan’s centre for culture on Sunday in the capital city of India. Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekar Rao and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar are the two major leaders who are not in the meeting.
KCR wrote an email to the Prime Minister explaining that the move is to express his protest to what he refers to as the “Centre’s claim of discrimination against states which includes Telangana’.
Nitish Kumar, just come back from Cocid-19 and has decided to miss the meeting.
This is the first meeting in person of the Governing Council since July 2019.
The Council the highest organization of NITI Aayog, includes all chief ministers as well as lieutenant governors of union territories, and a number of Union ministers.The Prime Minister is the chairman of NITI Aayog.
The agenda of the meeting is diversification of crops and the achievement of self-sufficiency in oilseeds and pulses as well as Agri-communities and the Implementation of the National Education Policy, which covers school education Implementation of the National Education Policy for higher education; as well as urban governance.
