Hyderabad 2 September : Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman been questioned about the absence of Prime Narendra Modi’s picture in PDS stores of Telangana.On a visit PDS outlets in Kamareddy district of Telangana on Friday, the minister demanded specifics of the expenses that were incurred in each kilogram of rice distributed through the PDS by the central and state governments.
Unsatisfied with the incoherent response of the officials of the district administration in response to her inquiry, she insisted the district collector provide the information regarding priority.
The central government contributes an amount of Rs 29 out of 35 Rs to every kilogram of rice distributed through the distribution system for public consumption, Sitharaman asked why the image of Prime Minister Modi isn’t being displayed in these outlets.
The previous day of union finance minister Nirmala S.Sitharaman’s three-day Telangana tour was marred by tensions following Youth Congress workers tried to stop her convoy in Banswada.
The Congress workers protested the price of fuel and demanded the finance minister to cut diesel and petrol prices.
On Thursday the union minister set off on a three-day visit of the Zaheerabad Lok Sabha constituency as part of the BJP’s political party’s Parliament Pravas Yojana.
