New Study: Corona can stay for 28 days on Mobiles and Banknotes

The recent study says that Covid-19 virus was still detectable after 28 days on smooth surfaces.

According to a research that published in the journal Virology Journal on October 7, Covid-19 or SARS-Cov-2 that leads to coronavirus infection can survive for 28 days on smooth surfaces like phone screens, banknotes, glass, plastic and stainless steel.

It is a contradiction to the earlier research that says SARS-Cov-2 can survive utmost a week on smooth surfaces.But the new study which published in the Virology Journal conducted by Australian agency CSIRO suggests that the virus lasts for 28 days when kept at a room temperature 20C or 68F.The researchers have compared the period with the flu virus and found that Covid-19 virus holds more days.Researchers disclosed that Influenza A virus stays for 17 days on smooth surfaces compared to Covid-19 virus.

However, the researchers have said that the virus is sensitive to higher temperatures.Apart from the latest study, several other studies have said the virus cannot survive longer when the temperature has increased to higher degrees.

The Lancet Scientific journal said the virus stopped its spread within just 5 minutes when the temperature raised to 70°C..
