N.Korea talks about 2022 budget during party plenary

Seoul, December 30, : , North Korea discussed its budget for next year during the third day of the ongoing Workers’ Party meeting, according to state media reports.
According to Yonhap News Agency, North Korea held the 4th Plenary Meeting for its 8th Central Committee of Workers Party.

This was amid hopes Pyongyang would unveil new policies on foreign affairs and the economy in the New Year.

According to the official North Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), “A group of state budget assessors was formed for the discussion of the second agenda item On the implementation state budget 2021 and draft state budget 2022′.This was in order to examine a draft document.”

The KCNA reported that participants continued to discuss Kim Jong-un’s report about rural development.They also reached a conclusion on “the orientation of work by the party and the state in 2022”, which was presented in earlier plenary sessions.

The report stated that members of the powerful party political bureau facilitated sectional workshops as well as consultative sessions.Kim was not mentioned.

Kim presided over both the first- and second-day plenary sessions.

He took “important revolutionary steps” to promote rural development in the context of efforts by the country to address chronic food shortages, as well as other problems resulting from the crippling sanctions and prolonged border lockdown.

The KCNA stated that participants’ enthusiasm grew upon receiving the “practical program”, which indicates “a new pathway for development”, without providing details.

The exact time the party will go on is not known as the North hasn’t made it public.

The previous plenary meetings were between 1 and 4 days.
