Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) president Revanth Reddy in a meeting at the Gandhi Bhavan on Monday, 2 October, came down heavily on Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Telangana IT Industries Minister KT Rama Rao’s comments on the six promises the Congress has made in Telangana ahead of the upcoming Assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
“As Modi was headed to attend a public meeting in Mahbubnagar on Sunday, it was expected that he would take the name of Pramod Venkatesh Mahajan, a leader who was behind the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party,” said the Congress leader.
“Secondly, we thought that during Modi’s visit to Mahbubnagar, the Palamuru Rangareddy project would be given national status,” he added.
“As the funds were announced for Gujurat, we thought that he would announce an industrial park with funds to solve the unemployment situation in Telangana,” said Revanth Reddy,
“The BJP has not fulfilled its promise of at least 20 lakh jobs for people.
We hoped that it would accept the proposal of the Congress-led UPA for the restoration of the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) corridor.We waited for him to speak on IIIT, University for Tribal Population.
Modi did not speak on the Bayyaram steel plant, railway factory coach, or NTPC power projects,” he added.
Later, speaking on the announcements made by Telangana Chief Minister and BRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao, he said the Turmeric Board was an old promise and it was made as a new announcement.
“PM Modi, are you the prime minister of India or only Gujurat? You must have criticised the Congress and its guarantees, but why is the BJP causing injustice to the public by not approving the proposals of the Congress?” asked Reddy.
“Union minister Kishan Reddy must apologise to the people for failing to fulfil the promises of the people of Telangana,” he added.
