The Narendra Modi led BJP government in Centre seems to be playing hide and seek in Vizag steel plant privatisation issue. The modi govt is already facing heat of Andhra people with the privatisation announcement.
Amid this, the Bharata Rashtra Samithi(BRS) led by KCR is emerging new challenger to the Modi govt. The Telangana based party is moving both aggressively and strategically to counter the Bharatiya Janatha Party(BJP).
After the KCR party has entered into the bidding process of Vizag steel plant privatisation, the Modi govt has changed its stance not once but twice. In a virtual snub to Bharat Rashtra Samithi led by chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, the Centre on Friday has confirmed that it is going ahead with the privatisation of Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, come what may.
Earlier on Thursday, Union Minister Faggan Singh Kulaste said that the government has suspended the disinvestment process of Vizag steel plant. However, on Friday, the Union ministry of steel clarified that there is no freeze on the disinvestment process of the RINL.
Clarifying about some media reports regarding hold on the disinvestment process of RINL, the ministry of steel said that disinvestment process of RINL was under progress.
It said that privatisation will happen and the investments will be withdrawn in a phased manner.
The Ministry of Steel issued a release and said that the process of disinvesting the investments in Rashtriya Ispat Nigam was also not stopped.Saying that the progress did not stop, it is going on.The Ministry also said that efforts are going on to disinvest the assets.
The Ministry also condemned the news appearing in media outlets that the assets disinvestment had stopped.
It is confirmed that the Center is not taking any backstep.A Union Minister said that the privatisation will not happen and announced this in Vizag.
Everyone wonder why the Centre changed its version after the Union Minister said no privatisation. They also ask if the Centre has no respect for AP or Vizag Steel Plant.
How the Center can confuse people more on the issue while it has been confusing for the past two years?
No matter how hard the BRS is opposing and what the parties in AP are saying, the Centre is adamant about privatisation.
