Guwahati 21 August : The mobile internet service was halted for four hours Sunday in 25 districts of Assam to stop cheating during the exams for recruitment of nearly 30,000 Grade III and IV positions of different government departments.According to the officials, in addition to the suspension of internet services, prohibitory orders made under Section 144 of the CrPc were also issued in and around test centres according to government orders.
The officials stated that more than 14.30 lakh hopefuls are set to apply for more than 30,000 Grade III and IV post, the examinations for which are administered by the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) on August 21, August 28 and September 11.
The selection test for Grade-IV posts was conducted in two shifts on Sunday afternoon, tests for posts in Grade III will be conducted on August 28 and September 11.
Senior officials stated that in addition to the state-owned BSNL as well as private providers of telecom services also temporarily stopped their mobile internet services between 10 a.m.until 12 p.m.and between 2 p.m.until 4 p.m.
