MHA approved Rs. 3,063.21 Cr as natural calamity assistance to six states

New Delhi, December 30, : .A top-ranking committee headed by Union Home Minister Amit Sharma approved Thursday additional Central Assistance of Rs 3.063.21 crore through the National Disaster Response Fund.This was for six states that were affected during the 2021 floods, landslides, and cyclones.
This arrangement provides that Gujarat receives Rs 1.133.35 crore to reduce the effects of Cyclone “Tauktae” this year, while West Bengal is allocated Rs 586.59 million to deal with Cyclone “Yaas”, which struck the state in May 2021.

In addition, Assam has received Rs 51.53 crore, Karnataka Rs 504.06 million, Madhya Pradesh Rs 600.50 lakh, and Uttarakhand Rs 187.18 billion to cover the damage caused by floods and landslides this South West Monsoon.

Officials from the Home Ministry stated that this additional aid is in addition to the State Disaster Response Fund funds (SDRF) released by the Centre to the States.These funds were already available to the States.

The Union Home Ministry authorized the release of Rs 7.274.40 crore of its second installment of State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF), in advance to 23 states.This was to allow them sufficient funds to address any emergencies resulting from any disaster.

The Central Government released Rs 17.747.20 crore in 28 states to their SDRF during the fiscal year 2021-22.Officials also said that an additional Rs 3.53.54 crore was released to seven states by the NDRF.

The officials also stated that Rs 1000 crore had been released by NDRF in advance to Gujarat, on May 20, 2021.Rs 300 crore were transferred to West Bengal on the 29th of May.

The Central Government deputed 22 Inter-Ministerial Central Teams in 2021-22 without waiting to receive a Memorandum form the affected states.
