BRS working president, K.T.Rama Rao, expressed his sympathy to Telugu Desam Party general secretary, Nara Lokesh, who recently raised concerns about his father, former chief minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu’s safety while in prison.
In an informal conversation with reporters, Rama Rao stated, “If Lokesh’s tweet reflects the truth, it’s indeed a regrettable and concerning situation.
Threats to politicians’ lives should not have a place in politics.I was disheartened upon reading Lokesh’s tweet.”
Rama Rao shared a personal memory of the anxiety he experienced when he was informed that his father, K.Chandrasekhar Rao, who was fasting for Telangana statehood, was at risk of becoming brain dead while at Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences.
“I can relate to the pain one feels when their father’s life is in jeopardy. When I couldn’t respond, a female officer escorted my mother away and candidly informed her that her husband’s life hung in the balance unless he ended his fast,” Rama Rao revealed.
Addressing his decision to prohibit protests in the city’s IT zone in response to Naidu’s arrest, Rama Rao emphasized the importance of maintaining peace in the city.He stressed that disturbances and counter-protests from followers of two Andhra Pradesh-based political parties, which don’t have a direct stake in Telangana, should not disrupt the tranquility.
“We would have permitted their demonstration if it had been organized at Dharna Chowk,” he added, referring to the designated protest area near Indira Park.
