Heavy rains lashed Kerala for the past few days.
Kerala is inundated in floodwater due to the offset of the monsoon.
There is huge property damage, and people are losing lives due to floods.A few more bodies were recovered on Sunday from the rubble of landslides in the Koottikkal and Kottayam districts.
With this, the death toll in Kerala reached 21.According to the state information and public relations department, 13 people were dead in Kottayam, and eight people were dead in the Idukki districts.Locals, including the Indian Air Force, Army, NDRF, police forces and firefighters, have been busy with relief measures.
More than a dozen people are said to be missing in Koottikkal and Kokkayar panchayats.The state government declared a red alert in 6 districts of the state, an orange alert in another 6 districts, and a yellow alert in two districts.
Authorities have ordered the closure of tourist spots and boating in areas affected by heavy rains until further orders.However, Union Home Minister Amit Shah tweeted, "We are constantly reviewing the situation of heavy rains and floods in Kerala and will extend all possible assistance to the victims, including relief efforts.".
