Moscow 3rd September : In an incident that was a bit of a shock hackers hacked into Yandex Taxi, a ride-hailing company’s software and drove hundreds of vehicles to the same spot and resulted in an in-traffic gridlock that lasted three hours.Dozens of drivers employed by Yandex Taxi in Moscow were unaware of the screen that displayed the exact location to get to.
According to cyber-experts the hackers hacked into Yandex’s security and created a variety of fake requests that instructed drivers to drive simultaneously to the exact location.
The hacker took all taxis to Kutuzovsky Prospekt, a major avenue in Moscow which is the site of the Hotel Ukraina, also known as Hotel Ukraine, reports Cyber News.
The move could be in response to the Russian conflict of aggression towards Ukraine.
While it wasn’t clear who was behind the Yandex Taxi hack, the Twitter account of Anonymous TV stated that hacking group Anonymous was behind the data breach.
“Moscow was in a state of stress.The biggest taxi company in Russia “Yandex Taxi was hacked by the Anonymous collective.
A traffic jam occurred in the middle of Moscow when hundreds of taxis were delivered by hackers to the Kutuzovsky Prospekt,” Anonymous TV tweeted late on Friday.
The Anonymous collective is part of an extensive hacking campaign against Russia called “OpRussia.”.
Yandex Taxi is run by Russia’s biggest IT company Yandex.
Yandex is the Russian equivalent of Google, the Russian Google.
