New Delhi, Aug 9 : Meta Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg on Tuesday announced three privacy options in WhatsApp that give users greater control over conversations.They also added layers of security when communicating. New features let WhatsApp users to quit chats in groups without notifying everyone.You can also control who can view your chat when you’re online, and block the display of screenshots after messages.
“We’ll continue to create new ways to secure your messages and make them as secure and private as face-to-face conversations” Zuckerberg said.Zuckerberg.
WhatsApp users will be able to leave a group privately , without needing to contact everyone.
“Now instead of notifying everyone in the group upon leaving the group, only admins will be notifying the admins.
This feature will begin rolling out to everyone during the month of April,” said the social network.
WhatsApp has also added the capability to control who can and won’t see while you’re online.
The feature will roll out to all users later this month.
WhatsApp is also allowing screenshot blocking for “View Once messages for an additional layer of security.
This feature is currently being tested and will be released to users shortly.
“Over the years we’ve introduced interlocking layers of security to ensure that their conversations are secure.The new features are one way to fulfill our promise to ensure that messages remain private.” stated Ami Vora the Director of Products at WhatsApp.
“To help spread awareness about the latest features on WhatsApp, we’re initiating an international campaign, beginning with India and the UK and India to inform people about how we can ensure their private conversations are protected via WhatsApp,” Vora added.
