Deepak Kingrani made a bold decision in 2017.
Despite having a comfortable job in the Netherlands, he decided to pursue his passion for writing and left his corporate life behind.
Now, six years later, he is receiving numerous calls of congratulations for his work as a screenwriter on the powerful social drama "Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai," featuring the talented actor Manoj Bajpayee.Transitioning from earning in euros to working in the creative industry in Mumbai was not a difficult shift for Deepak.
His unwavering passion for writing kept him motivated throughout the journey. One of his notable experiences was writing for the acclaimed series "Special Ops" in 2020.
Deepak never regretted his decision to leave his job for writing and wore a constant smile, grateful for the opportunities he had found."Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai," directed by Apoorva Singh Karki, revolves around a lawyer portrayed by Manoj Bajpayee and is inspired by the 2013 rape case involving self-proclaimed godman Asaram Bapu.
Deepak and Apoorva aimed to shed light on the issue of sexual abuse perpetrated by spiritual leaders.Deepak personally connected with the story as a father to a daughter.
For him, the narrative started with the idea that although society acknowledges the existence of bad individuals, the pain and betrayal are magnified when someone you hold in high regard, like a god-like figure, breaks your trust.Deepak emphasized that they wanted to challenge the negative perception that arises around faith due to the actions of such individuals, as they consider themselves spiritual people.
What brings Deepak immense joy about the success of "Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai" is the collaborative effort that went into the screenplay.Manoj Bajpayee, with his years of expertise and experience working with various directors and reading scripts, played an integral role.He actively participated in script-reading sessions, offering valuable insights.
Deepak shared that Manoj would sometimes request stronger dialogues to convey emotions, while Suparn Varma, the creative producer, would play the role of devils advocate, questioning certain aspects to ensure a well-rounded script.
