As the world is in a race to find a vaccine for Covid-19, the researchers from Washington University School of Medicine in the US collaborated with other researchers to carry a different experiment.
They found a new vaccine for Coronavirus that is more effective in the nose, and respiratory passage preventing further virus spread in the body.
At first, they have examined the vaccine in mice where the reports were highly satisfactory.
A senior author from Washington University School of Medicine, Michael S Diamond, said his team is surprised to witness a strong immunity in the cells of the inner lining of the nose and upper airway.They reportedly saw a sign of sterilizing immunity curbing infection further.
With the success and encouragement of initial trails, the scientists are now planning to conduct the tests in nonhuman primates, further which on succeeding, will move into human clinical trials.Experts say these type of vaccines, if succeeded, will be more effective, as they are directly given via nose, to curb the global pandemic.
