Thiruvananthapuram on August 22 : The Congress on Monday called on Kerala Governor Arif Mohammed Khan to order an extensive investigation into the various selections made at the different colleges in the state following the appointment of the Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan assumed office in 2016.In his letter in his letter, leader of Opposition V.
D.Satheesan stated that there have been numerous claims that since the Vijayan government came into office in the year 2016, there were numerous appointments to various varsity posts in which relatives of CPI-M ruled Left Democratic Front leaders have been appointed to positions that bypass merit.
“There is a major reduction of image to the higher education industry in the state because of merit being given the green light by family members of Left leaders securing jobs.As a result the once excellent quality of education that Kerala universities were renowned for has been severely impacted since there are reports of an overwhelming number of Kerala students going to go to universities in other countries,” he said, in a reference to the most recent instance where Priya Varghese, the wife of Vijayan’s personal secretary K.K.Ragesh was awarded the top rank in a job as a teacher in Malayalam at Kannur University.
The letter addressed to Khan is sent just hours after the Kerala High Court stayed the appointment of Varghese until August 31.Khan last week also had stayed her appointment.
Sources close to the Governor who is currently out of the state Khan will return to the state after he arrives on Wednesday is expected to establish an elite team comprised of experts of the highest calibre to conduct a thorough investigation into all appointments made by the Universities.
