The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) has called for Chief Minister Y.S.Jagan Mohan Reddy to extend an unconditional apology to SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities prior to embarking on his bus yatra.TDP leaders emphasized that it is essential for Jagan Mohan Reddy, who they believe may have unintentionally neglected these communities, to acknowledge past concerns before moving forward with his social empowerment campaign.
The ruling YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) is set to launch the ‘Samajika Sadhikara Bus Yatra’ to underscore the party’s commitment to empowering SCs, STs, BCs, and minorities.
TDP leaders released a pamphlet titled “A feudalist Jagan cutting the throats of the poor.” Present were TDP state unit President Kinjerapu Atchen Naidu, along with Nakka Anandababu, Varla Ramaiah, Simireddy Chandramohan Reddy, M.A.Shariff, Budha Venkanna, and others.
They raised questions about the message the YSRCP leaders intend to convey during the yatra.
They alleged that Jagan Reddy had inadvertently hindered these communities from fully enjoying their Constitutional rights.
According to TDP leaders, welfare schemes initiated by the Centre failed to reach these communities due to the state government’s inability to fulfill its financial commitments.
They also critiqued the Chief Minister’s announcement of 54 corporations for BCs, contending that substantive financial support should precede such declarations.
The TDP highlighted the extensive welfare schemes for BCs, SCs, STs, and minorities implemented during Chandrababu Naidu’s tenure.
They questioned why Jagan discontinued these initiatives without clear rationale.Additionally, they pointed out that Naidu had augmented BC reservation in local bodies from 20% to 34%, prompting them to inquire about Jagan’s decision to revert it to 24% upon taking office.
The TDP urged the Chief Minister to provide an account of how the appointments he claims to have made benefit these communities. They noted the absence of dissent from BC Ministers, even though the majority of the state’s governance is held by the Reddy community.
The TDP senior leaders advised that SC, ST, BC, and minority leaders, along with YSRCP ministers, engage in introspection before participating in the bus yatra. They asked how Jagan, who they believe may have overlooked these communities in the past, can truly advocate for their interests.
