The Bharatiya Janata Party in Andhra Pradesh has accused the State government of endangering the lives of poor people by providing fake or unsafe alcohol.
A spokesperson for the BJP, G Bhanu Prakash Reddy, who used to be a member of the TTD Board, has challenged Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy to order an investigation by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the liquor policy being followed in the State.
Speaking to the media at the partys office in the city, Reddy supported the statements made by the BJP State president Daggubati Purandeswari about the liquor policy in Andhra Pradesh. He asked why the Chief Minister is hesitant to launch a CBI inquiry if his government has nothing to hide regarding this issue.
He criticized the Chief Minister for resorting to making disrespectful comments about Purandeswari, as he seemed unable to address the concerns she raised.Reddy claimed that people from all walks of life in the State are worried about the strict enforcement of rules by the police.
When asked about his partys stance on the arrest of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu by the State government, Reddy pointed out that his party had condemned Naidus arrest on the very day it happened.
