The Loksabha on Friday approved a controversial bill which makes Polavaram project a reality by merging some mandals and villages of Telangana with Andhra Pradesh amid stiff opposition from TRS, BJD and other parties.Polavaram Project is a multi-purpose irrigation project.
This dam across the Godavari river is under construction and located in West Godavari and East Godavari districts in Andhra Pradesh.
Andhra Pradesh government welcomed the passing of AP Reorganisation (Amendment) Bill, 2014 by Lok Sabha.
AP Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu said that the project will be completed in three years and the state government would take full responsibility for rehabilitation and resettlement of the tribals displaced by the project.
