He replaced Tim Paine as the captain for the second two matches. This broke the record for Test debut wicketkeepers taking the most wickets.

Carey caught three runs in the opening innings, and then took five more in the second.

“As a wicketkeeper, you are judged only on the catches taken and dropped.

So I will keep going forward and try to improve my game to Gaz and Nathan Lyon — the Gabba had great bounce and play, and we now move to Adelaide, where the ball should be moving a little more, possibly a bit slower, with the pink ball.

Carey said, “But they all bowl beautifully and I’ll keep trying hard to improve my ‘keeping’ to them guys.”

Carey passed his test to become a keeper based on how well he played against Nathan Lyon.I’ve been able to keep a small amount of Gaz white-ball cricket, but it’s quite different when there are so many things happening. He’s a great guy and I will continue working hard to keep him company.

Carey said that he was confident in his game, and had previously played white ball for Australia.

This helped him to give a positive account in his maiden Test.

“I have got lots of confidence in my game.

I guess playing a little bit of white-ball cricket for Australia helps that.Once the bowler is running in, I focus on the ball and that is the same with the bat.Obviously, in your first Test you have got a bit going through your mind.It didn’t take me too long I guess to get into the rhythm.

Probably a few overs and then we are playing cricket again. It was great fun.”

The 30-year-old, who plays for South Australia in the domestic arena, is extremely thrilled at the prospect of playing a Test match at his home ground, Adelaide Oval, starting from December 16.

“I’m really excited to now head to Adelaide. We all know what the pink-ball Test means. It’s a really good atmosphere in Adelaide. But growing up watching games there and to have my family there is going to be very exciting.Obviously, winning this Test (Brisbane) puts us in a good place to hopefully start really well on Thursday.”
