San Francisco, Aug 17 : Tech giant Apple has laid off around 100 recruiters on contract in the last week in an effort to cut back on spending and hiring media reports claim.The recruiters accountable for bringing on new employees for the company, were informed that the layoffs were due to changes in Apple’s business requirements as reported by Bloomberg, CNBC reported.
According to the report, although the move is not typical for the tech giant from California, Apple is not the only company to slow down hiring.A
Other tech giants, like Microsoft, Amazon, Meta, Tesla, and Oracle have all slowed down hiring or reduced certain department in recent weeks as they struggle with the rising cost of living and are tightening their belts in anticipation of an economic slowdown.
“We do see an increase in our cost structure” the CEO Tim Cook was quoted as saying last month.
“We observe this in the areas of logistics, wages as well as specific silicon parts.We’re still hiring but in a controlled manner,” Cook added.
In the article the report, not all of Apple’s contractors were fired The report also states that Apple continues to keep its full-time recruiters as per the report.
The contractors who were terminated will receive benefits and will be paid for two weeks.
