Andhra Pradesh Governor Harichandan has issued orders appointing V Balasubramanyam as AP Legislative Council Protem Chairman.As the tenure of the Legislative Council Chairman and Deputy Chairman ended simultaneously, the Governor issued orders appointing V Balasubramanyam as the Protem Chairman.
As per the orders issued by the Governor, the Protem chairman along with the new members of the Legislative Council will be sworn in on Monday.However, V Balasubramanyam will continue in the post until a new chairman is elected.
Previously, V Balasubramanyam has represented the Andhra Pradesh Legislative Council three times.
On the other hand, the state government has recommended Lella Appireddy (Guntur), Moshen Raju (West Godavari), RV Ramesh Yadav (Kadapa) and the Thota Trimurthulu as nominees in the Governor’s quota.
Initially, Governor Vishwabushan Harichandan refused to approve Thota Trimurthulu, as there is a pending criminal case on him.Later, Jagan met Governor and explained.Hence, the Governor approved the four members.
The term of Seven MLCs from the Telugu Desam party and Ummareddy Venkateshwarlu from YCP ended on Friday.
With this, the strength of the ruling YCP in the AP Legislature will increase to 21 and the strength of TDP dropped to 15.
