Telangana home minister Mahmood Ali has triggered a controversy by making comments on what women should wear.While responding to questions on the incident in which a college in the Old City of Hyderabad asked female students to remove their burqas before writing examination, Ali said, “You can wear whatever you want to but don’t dress like Europeans it can create problems.

Women wearing fewer clothes create trouble, people feel relaxed if women wear more clothes.They can wear clothes like traditional muslims or Hindus with the ‘pallu’ on their head.Dressing in such a manner would gain respect to an individual.”

The minister further added that every individual is free enough to wear what they like nevertheless it would be wise if short outfits are avoided.

Several girls students of Women’s Degree College, Santosh Nagar, Hyderabad, came to the college wearing hijabs to write their Urdu Medium Degree exams.But, the college authorities asked them to remove their hijabs before entering the exam hall.

Minister Ali went on to say that BRS government is a secular sarkar and the state government did not impose any restrictions on wearing burqa (Hijab) and on the latest incidents, he would ask the officials to give a detailed explanation and also from the college management where the incident was reported.
