Bollywood star Sonakshi Sinha is about to step into the world of streaming with her first crime drama series, Dahaad, exclusively available on Prime Video. The show is crafted by renowned filmmakers Zoya Akhtar and Reema Kagti, with Kagti also helming the direction for the eight episodes alongside Ruchika Oberoi.
In an interview with PTI, Sinha said that she immediately said yes to the role of a cop pursuing a serial killer in Dahaad as she was getting “mundane” offers. She added that the character of Anjali Bhaati was so powerful on paper that it was truly a “clutter breaker.”
Sinha, known for her roles in films such as Dabangg and Lootera, said that she was not concerned with the medium and that the show came to her even before the OTT boom during the pandemic. As an actor, she sees it as a role, not the platform, and the most important factor for her is whether it is good enough for her to do and if it really shakes her up to be that character.
Sonakshi Sinha portrays a resolute cop in Dahaad who is on a mission to unravel the mystery behind a series of deaths of women in public bathrooms. The circumstances of these deaths remain perplexing, and it is up to the determined officer to crack the case.
Sinha said that she has evolved from being a restless actor who would work just to be working to someone who wants to portray strong women on screen. She now wants to focus on quality projects and roles with more substance and play stronger female characters.
She mentioned that there is a significant increase in movies with women in the lead roles, and this change is appreciated.

“Dahaad” is a show produced by Excel Media & Entertainment and Tiger Baby, with Ritesh Sidhwani, Farhan Akhtar, Kagti, and Zoya Akhtar as executive producers. The series includes notable actors like Vijay Varma, Gulshan Devaiah, and Sohum Shah.It will be available for streaming on Prime Video starting from May 12th.
