Dubai 13 September : England leg-spin all-rounder Sarah Glenn has closed in on her fellow countrywoman, left-arm spinner Sophie Ecclestone in the ICC Women’s T20I bowler rankings after an impressive performance in the opening game of the series of three T20Is against India at Chester-le-Street on Saturday.Sarah, whose career-best haul of 4/23 helped her team to a nine-wicket victory and won her the Player of the Match award, is at a career-best-equalling second position and just 13 rating points adrift of Sophie.
She was placed second on several times in the past and most recently, in the month of December, but she was beaten by her teammate and the veteran pacer Katherine Brunt, who has been withdrawn from the T20I series against India.
Young England batters, Sophia Dunkley and Alice Capsey also have seen significant gains following the opening match of their match.Sophia’s unbeaten score of 61 balls has seen her climb 13 places to 44th place while Alice’s quick 32 not out from 20 deliveries has boosted her to 12th position, which is now 52nd.The pacer Freya Davis has moved up nine spots and currently sits currently ranked 59th among bowlers.
For India the seamer Renuka Singh has moved up five places to be 13th, and all-rounder Deepti Sharma (up three places to 33rd) and wicketkeeper-batter Richa Ghosh (up four places to be at 75th) have made progress in the women’s T20I batters’ rankings.
Ireland as well as Scotland players also have plenty to be proud of in the lead-up to of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier 2022, which starts on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, in which they will be pooled in Group A.
Saskia Horley of Scotland has gained 16 spots to 54th among batters following her score of 44 in an unsuccessful match in the second T20I,.Ireland leg-spinner Cara Murray’s 2-wicket haul has boosted her 14 places to 94th place.
Ireland’s Leah Paul (up three places to 68th), Arlene Kelly (up 16 places to 74th) and captain Laura Delany (up eight places to 75th) have moved up in the list of bowlers, while all-rounder Orla Prendergast is now advancing in all three lists.
