Lucknow 13th September : Uttar Pradesh has been named the very first state in the nation with regards to the creation of 8,462 Amrit Sarovars (lakes).This is a component of Narendra Modi’s Prime Ministerial Project Amrit Sarovar, aimed at conserving water for the next.
Madhya Pradesh is ranked second, Jammu and Kashmir third, Rajasthan fourth and Tamil Nadu fifth in the execution of the mission according to a statement issued by the state government.
Within Uttar Pradesh, Lakhimpur Kheri is the first to be crowned through the construction of the 256 Amrit Sarovars.
Gorakhpur and Pratapgarh have secured third and second positions, with 244 and 231 lakes, respectively.
Director of Rural Development Department G S Priyadarshi said that according to the directives of the chief minister Yogi Adityanath 15,497 Amrit Sarovars were identified in various villages in panchayats of which 8,462 have been built that is more than twice the amount of Amrit Sarovars that have been developed in Madhya Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Rajasthan and Tamil Nadu.
Uttar Pradesh is the only state in the country in which the development efforts of Amrit Sarovars is taking place on a battle-field.In total, 1.20 lakh Amrit Sarovars will be developed in the state which is the most in the entire country.In Lakhimpur Kheri, work on the construction of 256 Amrit Sarovars, out of 315 has been completed , while the construction of 25 is in progress.
In the same way the building of 244 of of 312 Amrit Sarovars is complete in Gorakhpur and work is underway on 18.
Furthermore the creation of 231 lakes out of 282 is now complete in Pratapgarh and the work is in progress on the remaining.
Priyadarshi explained that in the initial stage of the project, which was part of the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme A goal was set to establish 75 Amrit Sarovars in 75 districts of the state.This was finished ahead of time.
The Yogi Government also seeks to create at minimum two Amrit Sarovars in panchayats weighing 58 grams (approximately 1.20 lakh) in the second phase.
The government has created 7,500 Amrit Sarovars under the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
