Los Angeles, Sep 12 : Former One Direction member Harry Styles has finally showcasing his dramatic skills, enthralling the Toronto International Film Festival at the world premiere of “My Policeman”.
A heart-warming, decade-long drama about a 1950s police officer with a perfect wife and an unrequited male lover.

Styles appeared with his co-stars Emma Corrin and David Dobson to reveal the long-awaited film according to “Variety”.

The ensemble of actors as well as the director, Michael Grandage, received an ovation from the Toronto Princess of Wales theater following the premiere on Sunday night.

Applause was snuffed out due to Styles his schedule.The singer was required to board an airplane immediately following the screening to begin his tour around the world.

In a brief Q&A, Styles discussed how he and his co-stars formed an authentic bond on screen as friends, and negotiated some body- and soul-sucking romantic scenes with both.

“Having an underlying of real relationship outside of the characters doesn’t require a lot of acting.

For the more dramatic scenes there’s an abundance of trust and security,” he said.

The audience at the premiere was evidently packed with Styles admirers, thrilled by his change from a pop star in sequin-strewn jumpsuits and a six-pack to a middle-class cop in pants and corduroys.

The script contains a variety of references to the way Styles character is intended to appear, all of which are were met with laughter from the audience.

Before the lights went out at the top the director Grandage expressed his appreciation for the advancements made in the fight for LGBTQ+ rights, but stated that there is “still space for further discussion, referring to recent threat to gay marriage as well as anti-trans legislation.

Along with the principal trio, the cast comprises Gina Mckee, Linus Roache and Rupert Everett.The show is directed by Grandage who is known for his experience in directing stage productions.

Producers include Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter, Robbie Rogers, Cora Palfrey and Philip Herd.

Film adaptation by Ron Nyswaner Bethan Roberts novel of the same name “My Policeman” follows three young people : the gay policeman Tom (Styles) and an educator named Marion (Corrin) whom he weds as well as a curator from the museum known as Patrick (Dawson), with whom he is engaged to.

The tale unfolds in the 1950s of Britain.

Moving into the 90s, Tom (Roache), Marion (McKee) and Patrick (Everett) are struggling with regret and longing But they now are given one final chance to repair the harm of the past.

“My Policeman” is one of two films featuring Styles to premiere in the fall festival circuit.The actor’s character opposite Florence Pugh in Olivia Wilde’s “Don’t Be Worried Darling was the first time that it premiered at the Venice Film Festival.

“My Policeman” premieres in theaters on October 21 and premieres on Prime Video on November 4.
