New York, Sep 12 : Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz demonstrated powerful power and showed impressive skills on the net during the match as he beat a tough Norwegian Casper Ruud 6-4, 2-6, 7-6(1), 6-3 to claim his first Grand Slam trophy — the US Open crown — and ensure the world No.one ranking for the week of Monday (IST).
The 19-year-old Alcaraz was able to score 76 percent of net points (34/45) to edge out his opponent at the Arthur Ashe Stadium after a nearly three hours and 20 minutes match.Alcaraz’s 51st tour-level victory of the season.
