Bhopal 11th September : A mishap by a cyclist on a railway tracks could have led to an accident of a serious nature in Madhya Pradesh, but the vigilance of the loco pilot, who was able to reduce the speed of train, prevented the incident.The incident could have resulted in a the derailment of the train which could have endangered the lives of passengers.The incident was reported close to Beena railway station in the Sagar district, on Saturday afternoon.A motorcyclist was later was identified as Brijesh Shukla (35) was trying to perform a stunt on the railway track, in the meantime, Kerala Express (New Delhi-Trivandrum Express) was headed toward the platform.
The biker (Shukla) was thrown off, and his motorcycle was crushed when the train struck it.It was sucked into the cattle guard that is located at the base of the engine’s front according an official from the railway.The incident was avoided as the train was traveling at a moderate speed at the time of the incident the official said.
The railway crew immediately jumped into action and dragged the bike that was crushed from the engine.
Officials stated that it took approximately 45 minutes to clean the track.This is why a number of trains, including Shaan-e Bhopal Express were delayed by one and a half hours.
The officials of the department for railway safety claimed that the speed of trains that arrive on a platform has been reduced to 30 km an hour.However the locomotive pilot of the express train noticed the bike and reduced the speed even further.
Biker was detained and sent to the custody of the railway police for further investigation into the matter, authorities said.
