Chennai 10th, September : Teachers’ unions would like the positions of district elementary educational officer (DEEO) and assistant elementary educational officer (AEEO) to be revived to ensure the smooth running of elementary education in the state.The post of DEEO and AEEO were eliminated in May 2018 , and the power was transferred to district educational officers (DEOs) and chief educational officers (CEOs) by government decrees 101 and 108.
R.Doss, General Secretary of Elementary School Teachers’ Association informed the media that DEOs and CEOs aren’t able to conduct inspections in a proper manner since they are already overwhelmed with their current professional obligations.
He stated that the primary school teachers’ associations had held three rounds of discussions with the state government in this direction.
Teachers also stated that it is currently hard for the director of elementary education to make any policy because of the slow rate of reports to the DEOs and CEOs.
A meeting between Chief Minister M.K.Stalin and the School Education Minister Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi will take soon in this regards.
The Association of Elementary School Teachers anticipates that following the meeting the positions of DEEO as well as AEEO will be revived and government directives 101 and 108 canceled.
