Chennai, Sep 8 : Ace director Gautham Menon says he is not surprised that choreographer-turned-director Brinda is making a full-fledged action film titled ‘Kumari Mavattathin Thugs’.In the course of participating in the introduction to the characters ceremony of the film Menon stated: “Brinda is a monster, and I am extremely happy to declare that she is my monster.She has been a part of my films in every film I have made, with the exception for ‘Nadunisi Naaygal’ and If my songs look great 99 percent of the credits go to Brinda and 1% to me.
“I am not shocked that she is making an action film since I made a film titled “Vettaiyaadu Vilayaadu’ in which Kamal Haasan was the lead.I am a huge fan and my choice to go to cinema was partly influenced from watching Mani sir’s films as well as Kamal sir’s films.Their journeys are what was the catalyst for me.
“So I was a little scared when I had to do work with Kamal sir I was full of anxiety in me.I was always afraid to ask for a second opinion from Kamal sir.I was aware that Brinda was in a relationship with Kamal sir.When we performed “Vettaiyaadu,” I thought I’ll bring Brinda on board as she’ll be handling Kamal sir’s affairs for me.
“In the film ‘Vettaiyaadu’, aside from the romantic song “Paartha Mudhal Naale”, there’s a track that is called “Karka Karka.” ‘.I created the song and explained to Brinda that this is the way it should be recorded.
“Brindha was the choreographer for the entire action sequence in the song.
I sat and enjoyedthe show, and had a blast because she could take on Kamal sir.
“That song brought me onto the map because of Brindha.That’s why I’m shocked that she is currently working on the film ‘Thugs’ after a romantic movie like “Hey Sinamika”.”
