Chennai 8 September : AIADMK interim General Secretary and former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K.Palaniswami (EPS) has stated that the party’s cadres are not willing to forgive the former Coordinator, O.Panneerselvam.He was talking with reporters at the party’s headquarters in Chennai on Thursday.
He said that Panneerselvam was the one who sparked the violent incident at the headquarters of the party on the 11th of July, when the AIADMK General Council meeting was held at Vanagram located on the fringes of Chennai.
He claimed that Panneerselvam is like a chameleon that changed his position in accordance with what is best for him.
Palaniswami said that the DMK government has been slow in responding to the violence that has occurred at headquarters of the party and added that the Crime Branch-Crime Investigation Department began an investigation into the incident on Wednesday.
He claimed that the vast majority of the MPs and MLAs support him and said that of the 2,663 members of the general body, 96 % have backed him.He also claimed that Panneerselvam has not been loyal to the party.
The AIADMK leader announced that elections for position of the General Secretary of the party will be held in the near future.
He attacked the DMK government and stated that the law and order condition in the state has been deteriorating.
EPS said that the DMK was unable to fulfill its promises to voters, including the exemption from NEET for medical aspirants that was a major campaign policy of the party in the 2021 Assembly elections.
Palaniswami visited the party’s headquarters for the first time following the general council meeting, as well as the violence.He was greeted with a cheer by the party’s cadres.
