Dendias was talking about a warning from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan about the Ankara describes as “harassment” of its fighter jets in the Aegean Sea and the eastern Mediterranean recently, according to Xinhua news agency.

“We have just one word for Greece Don’t forget about Izmir,” Erdogan had declared on the 3rd of September.

He was talking about the withdrawal of the Greek army from the province of Izmir in Turkey’s western region of Izmir in the course of Turkey’s Independence War in 1922.

“Occupying the islands is not make us bound. We’ll take whatever is needed when the time arrives. We could appear suddenly in the middle of the night,” Erdogan added.

Turkey has accused Greece of repeatedly inflicting harassment on Turkish jets that were carrying out NATO missions on the 22nd and 23rd of August.

But, Greece rejects the claims.

The relations between these two NATO allies have been in tension over a variety of issues that include energy and maritime dispute in the Aegean and Mediterranean.

Dendias stated that Greece always in favor of productive dialogue based on the principle of international law and is confident in the position of its partners and allies.
