K’taka: All public universities sign MoU with Infosys Springboard

Bengaluru 7th September : To help students prepare for their future professional life the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed on Tuesday by Karnataka State Higher Education Council (SHEC), Visvesvaraiah Technical University as well as all schools of public education of the state, and the pioneer of IT Infosys.
The MoU was signed in the presence of Minister of Higher Education, C.N.Ashwath Narayan at Vidhana Soudha.

Gopala Krishna Joshi, Executive Director of SHECA as well as Tirumala Aarohi of Infosys signed the MoU.

All Vice Chancellors of 24 Public Universities, including Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Mysore who were in attendance were later took part in exchanging MoU copies.of MoU.

In his remarks, Narayan said: “The Infosys Springboard platform that was created making use of modern technology has 12300 courses available at no cost of cost.The courses are accessible to students in the 6th grade until those studying for a Ph.D as well as accessed online.Additionally, this will also give the expertise of over 800 experts in education to students and the faculty of the Higher Education and also to the faculty”.

To accomplish this, Infosys has spent Rs 100 crore he said and praised the company for this.

The courses offered on the Springboard will assist Universities to improve their curriculum.

This allows for the importation of improved teaching techniques into the faculty, as the Minister said.

Furthermore, he emphasised that Colleges and Universities should include experts involved in creating the Springboard platform in their boards of studies.

The platform will be able the teaching of digital and emerging skills to students.

This will allow for virtual classes, and also assess students on the internet, Narayan explained.

The platform lets faculty open their micro-sites for the benefit of their institution.

Tirumala Aarohi Head of Education and Training, Infosys, said: “Relevant training will be provided to faculty members by analyzing the needs of the faculty via the Springboard.He said that a plan for the year will be designed to meet this need.This will aid in preparing our faculty in accordance with the global standards.”

The platform that is focused on students aged 10 and 22 has set the goal to impart life and digital skills to 1 million students in 2025.

At present, 23 lakh students have accessed the platform that is accessible in different Indian languages, too, he told.
