Gadkari tells four CMs”stories” on car seat belts

New Delhi, Sep 6 : Union Road Transport and Highway Ministers suggested that people should change their mindset to improve in road safety in the country.The Union Minister mentioned the chief ministers of a few states who said that they didn’t wear seat belts while traveling in vehicles.
“Forget the common cars of people.I travelled with four ministers of the chiefs in their cars.don’t ask me their names.I was in the front seat and noticed that the seat belt was clipped that was so that it doesn’t make any noise even if there’s no belt.I asked drivers about belts located and made sure I was wearing the seat belt before starting the car,” the Minister said.”Now I have stopped the manufacture and sale of these clips.”

Concerning the need for back seat belts , the minister claimed that people think that people sitting in the back seat don’t require belts.That’s the problem.I’m not going to make any remarks regarding any accident.However, both front-seaters and back-seaters must use seat belts, he said.

The Union Minister Nitin Gadkari was speaking at the IAA’s Global Summit – Nations As Brands on Monday.

Gadkari declared the ministry was working on making six airbags mandatory in all vehicles.”The same companies put in six airbags on their vehicles when they export these cars.So why do you have just 4 airbags in Indian automobiles? Aren’t our lives awash with worth? A bag of air costs just Rs 900.If the amount increases, the price will only go down,” Gadkari added.

Speaking about the accident on Sunday, Gadkari said that Cyrus Mistry was a “very good friend” and that the incident was “very unfortunate and a huge shock to the nation”.

The Minister also discussed the Ahmedabad-Mumbai highway , calling it an unsafe one.
