By Archana Sharma Kota 4 Sep : The city of coaches of Kota despite making hundreds of crores, appears to be frightened of its own demise due the inattention of powerful politicians who have allegedly made no provision for the growth and welfare of city dwellers to satisfy their own personal interests.
The voters who chose these leaders have begun asking questions about the delay in the airport project, the poor condition of roads, and the poor medical facilities.
The city hosts about 2.5 lakh students who come from far-off regions.Without an airport in the city, they are faced with many of problems. Also, local traders complain of the absence of an air transportation facility. This is a problem where the city is generating massive revenues for the government said a hotelier under the condition of confidentiality, adding “Forget the air travel There is no room for decent road transportation, too that has resulted in the deaths of many residents who commute.”
Inquiring about the lack of medical facilities Reena housewife stated that “Jodhpur is granted AIIMS because it’s the constituency home of the chief minister.Yet, Kota, despite all its fame and name and industry, is afflicted by inadequate medical facilities.Ours is a constituent of Birlaji and Dhariwalji.
There are still children here who have died in JK Lon Hospital. What is the reason for these incidents in Kota,” she asked.
Hundreds of babies died in JK Lon Hospital in Kota due to the lack of medical facilities just a few years ago.
Locals claim the city has been a victim of unsavory politics, where the leaders have emerged, but remain disengaged from the reality and the needs of the people. They are engaged in expanding their influence and putting people in the hands of God.
Kota is slowly sinking under the tension of politics. While the city is ranked at the top in the industry of coaching but it has been slipping on other metrics such as connectivity to the air, medical tourism, and business they said.
“Despite being a major business hub however, there are no other sectors growing , except for coaching due to which students have the difficulty of finding jobs,” local residents said and added, “We did elect Om Birla from here, who is currently the Lok Sabha Speaker now; The city is also where you will find Shanti Dhariwal, who is right next to the chief minister in the rank of UDH and the minister of parliamentary affairs.
Additionally the the former CM Vasundhara Raje comes from Hadauti region, which includes Kota.Surprisingly no of them could assist us until now in realizing our dreams of having an airport, jobs and road that is smooth,” they claimed.
A senior officer, speaking to IANS told IANS, “Kota has immense potential in tourism. But, tourists return after having travelled to Bundi.
The image of the city as a center for coaching has been a source of destruction for other industries. And this industry is encouraged by those who are not interested in helping other industries grow.”
In reality the most recent release of the superhit web series, Netflix Kota Factory, reflected the pressure and the suffocation that students are subjected to in this city of education.
While the show presents reel-to-reel footage however, the situation of the average person in real life isn’t different.
Many people, who face the difficulties of traveling on roads that are not safe and a lack of medical attention, have been ill.
Dr SN Gautam, the head of the department of Neuro Surgery at the medical college in Kota said, “The number of patients with neck and back pain has increased this time of year.Patients with neck pain should not drive on roads that are prone to potholes.”
Gajendra, student from Kota claimed that their leaders are more concerned in creating an international presence rather than in their own constituency.
In this regard, he narrated an incident that occurred when they visited BJP head Mukesh Vijay to host an informative workshop.
“We will be going to Singapore with 60 people to raise the National Flag there on August 15th and there is no time nor resources to stage this kind of ceremony in Kota,” Mukesh told them, as per Gajendra.
In reality the majority of leaders follow the same pattern, and are more active in events that are not in Kota.
On average, a student in Kota can pay up to 2.5 lakh annually.Around 150,000 students attend the Kota coaching centers each year.
In accordance with these figures the coaching centres in Kota have a market of around 3800 crore rupees.
Prahlad Gunjal, one of the BJP leader, when asked about the slow development of the city, despite tall leaders, said, “Where are the tall leaders in this city? We have the BJP’s Om Birla who is a leader who was a result of luck and accident. We also have Congress’ Shanti Dhariwal who is also a leader that is based on an organisational system. We don’t have leaders who be the voice of the people and this is the reason for the disorder in Kota.”
These leaders are focused on coaching factories that are promoting the habit of learning and making students feel pressured.Around 10-15 students commit suicide each year, according sources.
Dhariwal of the Congress and Birla from the BJP are best friends and are usually seen walking and working together. They are more focused on their growing and therefore the city’s development is not on their radars Gunjal claimed.
Another Congress leader, on condition of anonymity claimed, “Dhariwal has already pocketed an immense fortune.Free roads with signals and massive statues are his idea for how he can make money and this is well-known to everyone.”
All we have to do is wait and be patient for a change in the leadership in the Congress and the BJP which could open the way to the revival of the city, both Gunjal as well as the Congress leader have said.
Birla and Dhariwal could not be reached even after multiple attempts to find out their plans regarding the development of their base.
