Islamabad Sep 3, : The number of deaths in the devastating floods in Pakistan has risen to 1,265 while the cash-strapped nation struggles to provide relief and assistance for the millions of people affected by the record-breaking deluges.In its most recent update on Saturday the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) declared that at the very the very least, 57 persons were killed and another 7,683 injured in the monsoon rain that caused flash floods in the last 24 hours, as reported by Xinhua news agency.
The total number of injured people is currently 12,577.
As per the NDMA the latest deaths include 18 children and 17 women.
As the devastating rains and floods ravaged the country since mid-June about 320,680 homes were damaged and 3,766 animals have perished according to the report.
The NDMA stated that 169,676 people have been rescued since the start of the crisis, and that 627,793 people are in the camps.in the camps.
In addition, 1,427,039 homes were destroyed, and an estimated 735,584 animals have been killed in the floods, according to the report.
Operations for relief and rescue by the NDMA as well as other government agencies and non-government organisations were in progress in the flood-stricken areas.
