Melbourne September 2 : Australian wicketkeeper-batter Alex Carey is in the awe of Tim David’s brutal hitting, stating that the 26-year old’s “raw ability” simply impresses him.Cricket Australia (CA) on Thursday included Singaporean-born, Perth raised David in place of leg-spinner Mitchell Swepson in their squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in October.
David has proven himself with several impressive performances in various leagues around the world and was able to secure a spot in the 15-member Australia squad.He is a gifted and natural striker of the ball who is able to provide additional batting depth to the team which has had lots of successes in T20 cricket of recent times.
The 26-year-old was an unknown player in Australian cricket until he was selected by the Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League (IPL) massive auction, which cost a staggering 8.5 crore.
After the success of his time with MI as well as BBL club Hobart Hurricanes, he has the chance to build his playing career with the Australian team when it kicks off their campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup at home in October.
“I’ve played against David (David) in the Big Bash and have seen his power and rawness from behind stumps,” Carey said on the SEN 1170 Breakfast on Friday.”He’s has the ability to strike the opposite side of the field.

David who spent the majority of his youth in Western Australia, was born in Singapore and was a representative of the nation of his birth in 14 T20Is, scoring less than 47 runs at an average strike rate of 158.
Carey claimed that David was one of the top T20 batters in the world and He compared him with those of India’s Hardik Pandya and West Indies’ Kieron Pollard.
“Along with Hardik Pandya, (Kieron) Pollard and (Andre) Russell, these guys have incredible talents,” Carey added.
“Looking at the T20 Australian lineup It’s a tough lineup to crack.There’s a lot of selection headaches there’s no doubt about it.”
Australia will take part in the first match of the T20 World Cup against New Zealand at the Sydney Cricket Ground on October 22.
