New Delhi, Aug 31 : Taiwanese tech major Asus on Wednesday announced it will launch its 17.3-inch foldable OLED laptop, called Zenbook 17 Fold OLED priced at $3,499, will go on sale globally in the fourth quarter this year.The Evo certified laptop of Intel with 180-degree hinge comes with two different sizes of OLED display in one device.It’s a 17.3-inch, 2.5K touchscreen that folds in the middle to create two seamless 12.5-inch displays.
When folded completely closed it transforms into an ultra-small and compact 12.5-inch device that’s less than the size of a piece of photocopier paper.
Multiple modes of usage Desktop laptop (with Bluetooth keyboard), laptop with virtual keyboard) reader, tablet and extended — are made possible thanks to the fold-away design in combination with the larger Bluetooth keyboard and touchpad.
Each screen can also be divided into multiple windows and the contents organized using the window-management feature according to the company.
The device comes with the new Intel Core i7-1250U processors, Intel Iris Xe graphics 16GB RAM, and 1TB PCIe SSD.
There are two USB-C Thunderbolt four ports that claim to facilitate rapid charging of the battery with 75Wh capacity.
In desktop mode the stretched 17.3-inch screen is utilized with the ErgoSense keyboard and touchpad connected wirelessly to create a large-screen PC that is easy to use for productivity.
In laptop mode (with Bluetooth keyboard), the keyboard is attached magnetically when put on the lower part of the display folded.
Additionally, in laptop mode (with virtual keyboard) the lower screen can be changed into a virtual keyboard.
“Tablet mode lets users make use of the full capabilities of the fully open 17.3-inch touchscreen while Reader mode with the hinge vertically aligned transforms Zenbook17 Fold OLED into the ideal reader,” said the company.
