New Delhi, Aug 31 : Meta is winding its separate Facebook Gaming app from both Android and iOS starting on October 28.The app will also not available on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store.
Meta did not explain why it has decided to shut down the standalone gaming application.
“Despite this announcement our goal of connecting gamers, fans and creators with the games they love hasn’t changed and you’ll be able to locate your streamers, games and other groups whenever you log into Gaming in the Facebook app.” is the message on the website.
“We want to express our sincere thanks to everyone of you for everything you’ve done to help build an active community of gamers and their fans since the app was first introduced,” the notice added.
The app launched in April 2020.It allows users to watch their preferred streamers, play games on the go and join in gaming clubs.
“Facebook faced some challenges in launching the app, and Apple refused to accept the app a number of times in light of its rules which prohibit apps with the sole purpose of distribution of games for fun according to TechCrunch.
Apple’s rules have made it necessary for Facebook to remove the gaming function from the application.
The company stated that it would continue to help gaming communities developers, creators, and developers via the official Facebook application.
Facebook Gaming has rolled out the new ‘Clips to Reels feature that allows all creators who want to turn live gaming footage into Reels.
