New Delhi, Aug 30 : United States Senator Jon Ossoff arrived in India on Tuesday, on an eight-day tour to strengthen bilateral relations between both nations.”I am heading this US delegation to build the relationship between our two nations and to meet the future generation of Indian leaders,” Ossoff, who is from Georgia, the State of Georgia said. “We are part of the Indian American community in Georgia.Will also be working to show the area where the growing Indian diaspora is an active and well-loved component of the community we live in,” he stated.
At the age of 35 Senator Ossoff is the youngest US Senator in three decades.In his visit to India, Ossoff will work to increase the scientific, economic and cultural ties as well as security between the US and India.
Georgia is a state that of Georgia has more than a million Indian Americans.This month, Ossoff sent a message to the Indian people who were celebrating the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence Day, where he spoke about the relationship between India and Georgia, and emphasized the importance of strengthening connections.
Prior to the election, Ossoff led a team that examined and exposed corruption as well as war crimes and terrorist acts for international news agencies.In 2021 he took a decisive victory in an underdog race to ensure an Senate majority for the Democratic Party.
In his first two terms in the Senate, Senator Ossoff proposed and approved legislation to improve civil rights, promote the production of solar power in the United States and improve public health as well as leading an investigation by both sides of corrupt practices and abuses as chair of the Senate’s Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations.
In the race for president in 2021, he serves on the powerful Senate judiciary; Homeland Security and Government Affairs; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs and the rules committees.
He is also the chair of the Permanent Subcommittee on Homeland Security.
