Bengaluru 30 August : The global professional services firm Accenture today announced it made a strategic investment through Accenture Ventures, in hyperspectral satellite company Pixxel to examine Earth’s health.Pixxel is developing the world’s top-quality hyperspectral imaging satellite constellation to provide AI-powered insight for industry that can help solutions, resolve, and forecast climate issues for just a only a fraction of the expense of conventional satellites.
“We continue to have a an interest in startups in the rapidly growing space industry that, according to some estimates, to reach $1 trillion in revenue by 2040.Pixxel is a very exciting company near the intersection of sustainability and space technology,” Tom Lounibos, managing directorof Accenture Ventures, said in an announcement.
Pixxel’s first commercial satellites will launch in the first quarter of 2023 together with the sales of its satellite data.
With six satellites flying in an orbit that is sun-synchronous (SSO) at 555 km altitude, Pixxel’s hyperspectral constellation is able cover any location on earth every 48 hours.
With more satellites set to launch in the second half of 2023, Pixxel will achieve daily global coverage by 2024.
Pixxel’s satellites record images across hundreds of wavelengths in the electromagnetic spectrum.They also provide important information regarding the health of our planet that isn’t visible to other satellites.
The proposed collection of hyperspectral satellites is expected to alter the way businesses in mining, defence, agriculture environmental, and other crucial industries make decisions at global scale in order to reduce the environmental footprint of their operations.
Pixxel is among the companies that have joined Accenture Ventures’ Project Spotlight an investment and engagement program that invests in companies that develop or utilize disruptive technologies in the enterprise.
