New Delhi, Aug 30 : Union Minister of Chemical and Fertilisers Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday stated that the National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) is working more in the capacity of a facilitator and not just regulator.He stated this when he addressed the Silver Jubilee Celebrations of National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) here.
In her remarks at the gathering, Mandaviya, also the Health Minister, highlighted the NPPA’s contribution to ensuring the availability and affordable of medications in the past 25 years.
The Union Minister also acknowledged Indian firms for producing continuously top-quality products.
He encouraged them to develop medical products and conduct research with the aim of making sure that there is the good health and overall well-being of the population, not just for commercial use.
Mandaviya promised Indian pharmaceutical companies of constant backing by the government.
He also spoke of the positive impact of Indian pharmaceutical firms throughout the Covid crisis and stressed the importance of collaboration and cooperation between industry and government in providing high-quality healthcare to the many.
At the beginning of the session, Integrated Pharmaceutical Database Management System 2.0 (IPDMS 2.0) and the Pharma Sahi Daam 2.0 App were launched.
IPDMS 2.0 is an integrated, responsive cloud-based application developed by NPPA with technical assistance from the Centre for Advance Computing (C-DAC).
It is envisioned to enhance synergies in operations in order to support the government’s goal of “Ease of Doing Business in that it will provide one single point of entry for submissions of different forms as required under the Drug Price Control Order, 2013.
The Pharma Sahi Daram 2.0 App will include new features, such as speech recognition, availability in Hindi as well as English Share button, as well as bookmarking medicines.
The latest version of Pharma Sahi Daam also offers the option of consumer complaints to be filed using the complaint handling feature for consumers.The app will be available in both iOS and Android versions.
Bhagwanth Khuba Minister of State for Chemicals & Fertilizers and New & Renewable Energy who also attended at the occasion, praised NPPA for its work in serving of the nation and the pharma sector with a high degree of success over the last 25 years.
A book titled ‘An overview of the drug Pricing @ NPPA 25-year Odyssey The publication was also launched at the beginning of the session.
The publication not only traces the journey of 25 years of NPPA but focuses on the development of the regulatory system for drugs in the nation with particular attention paid to pricing regulation.
