On Monday the team of the panel of election officials concluded the trial in the Hemant Soren mine leasing case, in which the BJP has accused him of having extended himself a mining lease and has sought his exclusion as an MLA.
The BJP had previously approached the panel of election officials to seek Hemant Soren’s disqualification due to “violating” the section 9-A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951 which is concerned with the disqualification of government contracts.
In accordance with the regulations, if any doubt arises about whether or not a member of the House of the Legislature of a state is now the subject of any of the sanctions, the issue will be sent to the governor, who’s decision is final.
