The only crew and cast who were involved in the film together with the studio’s executives and representatives were invited to the screenings which began and will continue through the entire week.

One source said that the private screenings are “funeral screenings” since it’s probably the only chance a small number of people can see the film before it’s stored in vaults, whether digital or physical, as per aceshowbiz.com.

Warner Bros.shocked everyone on August 2 when it announced that it was going to pull ‘Batgirl’ from the screen, which starred Leslie Grace in the titular role. The film, produced by Billal Fallah and Adil Al Arbi had been shot but was far from being finished, with temp visual effects and a score.

Reacting to the news Grace posted on Instagram, “On the heels of the news that was recently released about our film “Batgirl,” I am extremely proud of the passion and dedication all of our amazing crew and cast put into the film over the span of seven months in Scotland.”

“I am fortunate to have worked with the best and formed friendships that will last a lifetime in this process!”

Fallah and Al Arbi also released a joint statement on social media, which reads: “We are saddened and shocked by the news.We are still stunned by the news.As directors, it’s essential that our work is presented to the public and even though the film was not completed, we would like that people from across the globe could have had the chance to experience and embrace the final film.Perhaps one day they will, insha/Allah.”

“Our incredible crew and cast did an amazing job and put in a lot of effort to bring Batgirl to life,” they added.”We will always be grateful to be part of the team.It was an absolute pleasure to collaborate with the amazing actors such as Michael Keaton, J.K.Simmons, Brendan Fraser, Jacob Scipio, Corey Johnson, Rebecca Front, and particularly the legendary Leslie Grace, who portrayed Batgirl with great enthusiasm, dedication and compassion.”

The directors have denied reports that claimed the film was pulled due to the lack of poor screenings of the test.

El Arbi said, “The people from Warners have told us that it wasn’t a talent issue on our side or our actresses, or the overall quality of the film.

They told us that it was an important change in strategy. They had a new management and they wanted to save money.”

They also claimed that they did not have access to footage of the film that was canceled because the studio had shut them off of the servers used for production.
