“If TON has been able to achieve these results, just imagine what a success Telegram with its 700 million members could be if we were to put reserved @ usernames channels, group and group links up for auctions,” said Durov in an email on Monday.

“In addition to the millions of interesting t.me addresses such as @storm or @royal All four-letter usernames could be offered for sale (@bank @club, @game at gift, @bank, etc.),” he added.

The Telegram founders said that this would result in an entirely new platform on which users could transfer their usernames to anyone who is interested in secure transactions with ownership secured by the blockchain using NFT-like smart-contracts.

“Other aspects of the Telegram ecosystem, such as stickers, channels or emojis, could also be part of this market,” he mentioned.

The platform for encrypted messaging announced a paid subscription for its platform, which is expected to cost $5 (about 400 rupees) per month.

Premium subscribers can download files and media at the highest possible speed.

In Premium, you are able to subscribe to up to 1000 channels and create as many as 20 chat folders with up to 200 chats per folder you can also add an additional account to any Telegram app, save 10 chats in the main list and save up to 10 of your favorite stickers.
