Mandya, (Karnataka) Aug 22 : Karnataka police have arrested a woman accused of being a honey-trapper for the RSS leader and demanding the huge amount of money from the leader in the district of the state, police said on Monday.Salma Banu, a human and social rights’ activist , was detained following a complaint filed by RSS leader Niddodi Jagannath Shetty, a gold dealer.
According to the police, Shetty is the owner of Srinidhi gold jewelry and an a prominent political figure in Dakshina Kannada district.The suspect together with her group, had extorted 50 lakh from Shetty and demanded more.
Shetty approached police after the police’s manhunt in search of the other suspect.
On February 26th, Shetty was offered a transfer to Mysuru from Mandya in the vehicle that contained four people.
They had allegedly entrapped Shetty in an hotel in Mysuru.
The complainant told police he went to test gold biscuits in the hotel.
As soon as he got into his room, the accused took photos and recorded him with the woman.
The accused demanded the victim Rs 4 crore victim right on the spot, for failing to make the viral video.
Shetty agreed to pay them Rs 50 lakh, and then settled the case.
However, the suspect began pestering him with more money, prompting him to go to the police.
Further investigations are ongoing.
