Dubai 20th August : The Netherlands all-rounder, Bas de Leede has been fined for breaking the Level 1.of the ICC Code of Conduct during the second ODI against Pakistan in Rotterdam the world’s cricket’s governing body said on Saturday.The incident took place in the 17th over of the Netherlands innings.De Leede played the ball directly to a fielder, and used inappropriate language that was heard on the stump microphone as well as on the live broadcast requiring an apology from commentators.
“De Leede was found have violated the provisions of Article 2.3 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel that deals with the usage of an audible obscenity in any international event,” the ICC said in an announcement.
“In addition one demerit point is added to de Leede’s record of disciplinary actions which was the first offense in the span of 24 months,” it added.
The young man of 22 De Leede admitted the offence and accepted the punishment proposed by match referee Chris Broad of the Elite Panel of ICC Match Referees and as such, the court did not need to hold an official hearing.
The umpires for the on-field Michael Gough and Nitin Bathi as well as third umpire Rizwan Akram, and fourth official Adriaan van den Dries pleaded guilty to the accusations.
It is important to note that Level 1 breaches carry the minimum punishment of an official reprimand, with a maximum fine of 50 % of the match fee of a player and two or more demerit points.
